Blue Bird

I may be the most inconsistent blogger there is, but that won’t stop me from occasionally throwing my thoughts into the ring!

Last weekend, I started a bucket list of things I’d like to do leading up to my 30th year of life.  One of those things was to start a monthly breakfast club = get a group of friends together once a month and have breakfast at a different restaurant each time.  This morning was the first meeting of the breakfast club, and I am pleased to report that it went very well.  Part of the goal is to get myself out and about, regardless of whether or not another person accompanies me.  Fortunately, my good pal Brenna was able to join me this morning, which makes it all the more fun.  We went to the Blue Bird Bistro at 17th and Summit.  I had fried green tomatoes, bacon and eggs benedict.  She had the “trio” which included, among other things, bison sausage.  Yumm.  It was truly scrumptious, and a fantastic way to start my Saturday!  I’m very much looking forward to next month’s meeting.

In other news, Olly finished a 7 week obedience class last weekend.  Here’s some proof:

Ain’t she a cutie!  All I can say is, it’s a good thing the class was not pass/fail.  Which is probably fairly obvious since in all the pictures I’m having to hold her poses.  However, she is only 10 months old, so she’s got some maturing to do yet 🙂  At least that’s what I tell myself.  Also, notice in that third picture how she sits sideways?  It’s almost impossible to get her to sit straight.  Obedience class was not her favorite thing, so she and I are enjoying having our Saturday mornings free again.

In two weeks I’ll also be submitting two of my pies (cherry & apple) to the Kansas State Fair for their analysis of my pie-making prowess.  Here’s hoping I get a blue ribbon!  I made a peach pie today just to keep my skills honed.  Also because I am now going to Costco, so I can get fresh fruit in bulk, which makes for lots of good pie making.  I just saw that one of my favorite apple orchards in the area will be open next weekend for u-pick apples!  I’m so excited for apple season, you don’t even know.

Have a good Labor Day weekend (next week) everyone!
