The new and the noteworthy

I was reminded the other day that I have a blog, and that it has been about 8 months since the last time I said anything on it.  Well, allow me to remedy that right now.

We’re already into the third month of the new year, which I suppose suggests this year is no longer all that new.  The first two months have been pretty fantastic, if I do say so myself.  February in particular seems to have been jam-packed.  In January, I visited Funkytown for the first time, and I think the general consensus was that a return trip will need to happen.  Funkytown

This is some of the Funkytown gang — it was lovely Stacy’s 30th birthday party!  So we all dressed as 80s as we could.  I think it turned out well!  Who knew turning 30 was going to end up being so fun.  I continued my tour of helping friends celebrate their 30th bdays by heading to Jackson Hole, Wyoming over the Valentine’s Day weekend to see one of my favorite people I have known since high school, Cindy.  Her birthday is on the 20th, but this was too good an opportunity to pass up.  Not only had I never been to Wyoming, I hadn’t seen my friend in several years.  It was a fantastic trip, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to spend some time with her!

This was the two of us starting on our cross country ski adventure in the Grand Teton National Park.  It was gorgeous, as you will see in the subsequent pictures.

As you can see from that photo, this was the end of the roughly 9 miles we had cross country skied.  Did I mention this was the first time I had genuinely xc skied?  Yeah, I was pretty sore after that.  So worth it though!

If you go to Jackson Hole, you’ve got to go to the Cowboy Bar, it’s pretty dang fun.  Plus, you get to sit on a horse saddle when you sit at the bar.  It was really an amazing trip, and I strongly recommend taking trips with your besties any chance you get.  I also got a really bad sunburn on my face from that xc ski trip, thankfully there are no photos of that.  But for the grace of my dear Cindy 🙂

Another milestone in the last couple of months was my anniversary with little Olly (or I suppose not so little anymore).  She and I have been together for a year as of February 15th, and I couldn’t be happier that I chose to adopt her a year ago.  She is simply the sweetest dog there is!

And she likes laser pointers…still.  She’s so stinkin’ cute!  While we’re on the subject of cute, I have to give a shout out to my beautiful and super cute niece Zoe.  This pic isn’t from this year, but Xmas time:

Christmas, 2014 016

She’s such a little stinker, and I can’t wait to see her again.  May have to wait till Easter, but that little stinker is 9 months old now!  Time is just flying by my friends.  It’s already March, and several important people in my life have birthdays in March.  Tomorrow marks my Mom’s birthday, she would have been 59 years old.  I’ll probably celebrate by eating some chocolate in her honor.  She loved coconut cream pie, but I don’t like coconut, so she’ll have to settle for chocolate 🙂  This month also includes my sister’s birthday, and at least three of my closest friends.  I’m going to stop naming people so I don’t run the risk of forgetting someone!

So far, this year is off to a great start.  There have been some setbacks, but given all the celebrating I’ve been doing with so many other people, I think this year is going to continue being fantastic.  Stay tuned, and if you’re lucky, I’ll write another post in 8 months or less.
